Yves Saint Laurent

1971 F/W Documented Geometric Wool Challis Shirt Dress

Sold Out

This F/W 1971 Yves Saint Laurent Boutique shirt dress was featured in the June 9, 1971 issue of Elle France, demonstrating the difference between Saint Laurent's ready-to-wear and haute couture designs. It was made in France of unlined wool challis with a green, purple, orange, and cream geometric print. It features puff shoulders, a pointed collar, and two breast pockets. It does up the left side with a metal Eclair zipper and in the front with six shell buttons. There are two additional shell buttons on each cuff.

The price has been greatly reduced due to numerous flaws. There have been repairs done to the back of both the armpits, and there are two visible areas on the top and one on the skirt where the fabric has been darned. Quite a few other small holes have been repaired throughout and the skirt appears to have been rehemmed. Please zoom in on the photos for a complete understanding of the condition. It remains an important piece of fashion history. It has been cleaned and is ready to wear.
