1980s Butterfly Appliqué Blue Chiffon Evening Dress
This Wayne Clark dress dates to the early 1980s. Though the label has been cut out, we can confidently identify this as a Wayne Clark piece, as we have a labeled dress with the same butterflies and a blouse with matching buttons. It was made from a blue polyester chiffon that feels like silk to the touch, with a silver metallic trim. It has silver metallic butterflies on the right sleeve and down the right side of the back, and quilted satin cuffs with rhinestone-encrusted buttons. It slips over the wearer's head, with volume created by billowing balloon sleeves and easily-removable shoulder pads. The 112" x 28" matching sash belt is large enough to wear as a shawl.
The waist has lost its elasticity but this does not affect its wearability when worn with the belt. Otherwise, it is in very good condition, clean and ready to wear.
