Walco
1930s Novelty Hand-Embroidered White Cotton Work Dress
Sold Out
This 1930s-1940s collared dress by Walco, a Los Angeles company that sold uniforms and wash dresses. It's made from a white semi-sheer cotton that has been hand-embroidered with a print featuring tropical fruit and dancing women. We believe the embroidery was added in the 1970s. The dress has two front pockets, pointed rolled-up cuffs with fruit baskets embroidered on them, and small 1.25" slits in the two back seams, through which a belt could be easily looped. It does up the front with seven multicoloured buttons.
Considering its age, the dress is in remarkably good condition. There are just a couple of small rust marks near the hem, and light yellowing around the cuffs. It's clean and ready to wear.
