Studio Picone Roma
1960s "Little Priest" Cream Silk Twill Shirt Dress
This Studio Picone Roma collared shirt dress dates to the 1960s or early-1970s. It was made in Italy of a cream & brown silk twill with hand-rolled edges, and features Giuseppe Picone's "Little Priest" illustrations around the trim in black. Each priest has a different facial expression, and legend has it Giuseppe would spend hours drawing just one head. The designer label is missing, but the "H.R.'s Boutique" (Holt Renfrew) label is still intact and the fabric is signed with the artist's signature. It does up the front of the bust with five buttons.
It does have a few flaws that have greatly reduced the price, but it still presents well and remains very wearable. There is some light yellowing around the armpits and at the back of the neck, just poking out from under the collar. There is also a very discreet yellow stain near the bottom of the buttons. Please see the photos for a complete understanding. It has been professionally dry-cleaned.
