Stuart Kent Harper
1940s Surrealist Wool & Leather Orchid Fascinator
Sold Out
This very rare fascinator is by American milliner Stuart Kent Harper. The only other examples of Harper’s work to be found online are in the archives of major museums, such as the Met, V&A and LACMA. Shaped like a large orchid, this piece is a great example of surrealism in fashion during the 1940s, à la Schiaparelli. The body of the hat is made of a pure wool felt, with a piece of cut-out leather on top. It is in excellent, museum-worthy condition.
