Pierre Balmain
1960s Demi-Couture Plaid Bouclé Wool Dress & Jacket Set
$850.00
This early-1960s Pierre Balmain jacket and dress set was made in France for his "Florilège" label. The Florilège label was designed to give couture seamstresses work when they didn't have orders from their couture clients. The items were hand-sewn in the Paris atelier and then tailored to the customer in the shops. Each piece has hand-written couture labels sewn into the seams.
The short sleeve dress has a silk-lined burgundy wool top and a rayon-lined plaid boucle wool skirt. The front of the skirt is pleated. It fastens up the back left side with a concealed metal Eclair zipper and three snaps at the shoulder. The plaid bouclé wool collared jacket has a burgundy silk lining, two faux flap breast pockets, and buttons fastening the front. Both pieces are in excellent condition, professionally dry-cleaned and ready to wear.
