Christian Dior Haute Couture
1970s Numbered Cream Wool Pantsuit
This 1970s Christian Dior pantsuit is true haute couture, designed by Marc Bohan. Made from a cream pinstripe wool and lined in silk, it consists of a double-breasted collared blazer and high-waisted trousers. The blazer has two pockets, plus a breast pocket, and does up with 4 buttons, with three additional buttons on each cuff. The trousers have a pleat down each leg and 6 belt loops on the waistband, doing up the front with a metal Eclair zipper and two hooks. The "Christian Dior" label that would indicate the collection season is missing. This would have originally been on the inside of the jacket. The original numbered label and hand written content label still remains in the pants, and is numbered “0824..P..12..”
The metal zipper on the pants is missing two teeth, so it does not zip up properly. We have decided to leave it as is to keep the piece as original as possible. There are also two extremely light small marks on the front of the jacket that could easily go unnoticed. These imperfections have been highlighted in the photos, and though the suit still presents beautifully and is highly wearable, we have greatly reduced the price due to these flaws.
