Christian Dior Haute Couture
1977 A/W Cream Pleated Silk Fringe Dress
Sold Out
This haute couture dress was designed by Marc Bohan for Christian Dior's 1977 A/W collection. Made in France from pure silk, it's styled as a finely pleated dress with a built-in balloon sleeve overlay. The left side fastens with a metal Eclair zipper and it has an additional zipper on the lining of the skirt. Part of the subtle charm of this piece comes with the silk chiffon underskirt, which finishes at the hem with cream fringe, hanging just below the outer pleated skirt.
This dress appears to be in excellent condition but there are a couple of flaws to note. It's missing its original belt and there are a few very light marks on the back of the dress that we are fairly certain a dry-cleaner could remove. We have decided to sell it at a reduced cost instead of having it cleaned ourselves. There is also a tear in the silk chiffon lining of the left armpit. This is in no way visible during wear but has had a large impact on the price.
