1970's Silk Chiffon Paint Splatter Dress
A silk chiffon collared dress from esteemed American designer (based in Rome), La Mendola, whose clientele has included the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth. The print is of a blue/green/brown pattern reminiscent of blown glass or fine painting techniques, punctuated by small white splatters throughout, creating a highly unique colour texture. The wide pointed collar is distinctly 1970’s, accented by buttoned wrist cuffs that both extend a few inches further up the forearm on one side, again creating a unique effect. There are pleats and small buttons down the front of the dress. The body is fully lined except at the shoulders, sides, the top of the back and the sleeves, making this piece feel lighter overall.
