Dell Originals
1970s Mexican Tassel Striped Cotton Caftan
This pure cotton hippie chic caftan is most notable for its long yellow ribbons that dangle down the front and back, adding movement to the piece. It dates to the early 1970s, or possibly the last 1960s, and was made in Mexico by Los Angeles-based brand Dell Originals. I’ve seen the same piece in a different colorway designed by Josefa, another great designer known for their Mexican-made caftans during the same period. This one is in orange, red, pink, and yellow, slipping over the head and tying up around the neck with a ribbon. It’s one size fits all, measuring 51” in length. In excellent condition, it has been professionally dry-cleaned and is ready to wear.
