Helen Bond Carruthers
1950s Baby Blue Cashmere Embroidered Cardigan
Sold Out
This 1950s sweater is a rare piece from highly collectible designer Helen Bond Carruthers, who was known for appliqueing the intricate embroidery from antique shawls and linens to cashmere. This particular creation has the embroidery from a Chinese shawl, featuring a floral pattern with a large bird on the back. It is a baby blue cashmere, with a body lined in silk chiffon, doing up the front with 8 buttons. There is a large “Helen Bond Carruthers - Versailles Kentucky” label at the back of the waistband. It is in very good condition; there is one yellow stain on the lining that is completely invisible during wear, as well as some very light wear to the cashmere. There are no holes or stains on the outside of the garment, and it has been professionally dry cleaned and is ready to wear.
