This 1982 S/S Valentino Boutique party dress was made in Italy of black raw silk taffeta, and originally purchased at I. Magnin. David Bailey photographed the red version for the March 1982 issue of Vogue Italia. The boned bustier top has a sweetheart neckline, ruffle trim, and ties around the arms. The skirt has a beige and black plaid silk overlay. The dress fastens with a zipper up the left side. 

Overall it's in very good condition, but there are two areas on the skirt where the fabric has been reinforced with patches. They easily camoflauge into the natural imperfections of the raw silk. It has been professionally dry-cleaned and is ready to wear.

Please note that the underbust of this dress was too small for our size 0 mannequin and didn't fully zip up at the side.
