Philippe Venet

1960s Mod Beige & Cream Mini Dress Set

$350.00

1046

This 1960s wool A-line mini dress and double-breasted jacket set are by Philippe Venet. Venet was a very influential designer who worked under Schiaparelli and Givenchy before opening his own couture house in 1962. This particular set is superb quality, and the design is highly comparable to Courreges and Pierre Cardin from the same era. The cream and beige fabric was made in England of 67% wool and 33% worsted wool, and the pieces are fully lined in acetate. The dress does up the back with a metal zipper.

At first glance, this suit appears to be in unworn condition. Under close inspection, there are a number of minor imperfections: there is a small rip in the wool on the right cuff; there are quite a few very tiny pin-sized moth nibbles along the hem (the largest one measuring 3mm x 3mm on the very back bottom of the hem); the dress is missing its belt, and the rounded gold buttons are not original. The price has been greatly reduced to these flaws, which are clearly shown in the last two photos. This remains a rare and highly collectible piece that is still in very wearable condition. It has been professionally dry cleaned, and is ready to be worn or displayed.
