This Emanuel Ungaro sculptural belt was made in France from a lightweight metal (probably aluminum) with a chrome finish. Metal accessories were a major trend in Ungaro's 1969-70 F/W haute couture collection, and though this belt was designed for Ungaro's Parallele line, we believe that it's likely from the same era. Sculptor Oskar Gustin was behind Ungaro's metalwork from this period. It fastens with a hook and chain, weighs 140 grams and measures 2 1/8" at its widest point. The back is signed "UNGARO PARALLELE - MADE IN FRANCE". It's designed to be worn on the lower waist, fitting 29.5"-33". The belt has quite a bit of patina and the tips of the swirls are lifting, which we have factored into the price. It remains a very wearable piece of fashion history.
