Yves Saint Laurent

1987-1988 F/W Trompe L'oeil Bow Velvet Jacket

Sold Out

1063

This Yves Saint Laurent jacket is not only a beautiful and high quality piece, but a significant item in the illustrious fashion house’s history. Designed for their 1987-1988 F/W collection, the haute couture version was modeled by an 18-year-old Naomi Campbell both on the runway and in editorials. That iteration is held today in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This version is crafted from black velvet cotton with a silk satin trompe l’oeil bow and built-in shoulder pads, and features gold ribbon, sequin, and jewel embellishment. It does up with 5 snaps, and has a decorative button on the waist. One small strand of beads is missing on the left neck, which is only noticeable under close inspection. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition, clean and ready to wear.
