1920s Black Silk Knit Crochet Ruffle Fringe Dress

This black crocheted silk dress is an exceptional find for a 1920s piece as it is not only highly wearable, but durable to boot. The crochet pattern of the body and sleeves is made in small squares, accented with bigger thicker squares in a checkered pattern around the hips. The long fringe extends to just below the knee. The ruffled collar is loose knit with scalloped edges, ending at the edge of the shoulders. The sleeves are slightly loose and hit above the elbow, with fabric hemmed to be thicker at the edges which gives it the weight to sit nicely on the arms. An excellent opportunity to work an antique piece into modern wardrobe!
