Clodovil Couture

1970s Burgundy Silk Chiffon Billowing Sleeve Palazzo Jumpsuit

Sold Out

This very rare 1970s palazzo jumpsuit is by Brazilian fashion designer-turned-TV presenter/politician Clodovil. Made in Sao Paolo, it is a breathtaking example of completely hand-finished true couture, and one of our favorite pieces we've ever had in the store. It features huge billowing sleeves with long ruched cuffs, wide legs comprised of three layers of silk chiffon, and fishing wire hand-rolled into the hem of the pants to maintain their dramatic shape. The sheer top has a pintuck bodice, a long built-in neck tie, and 11 buttons on each cuff. It does up the front with 46 buttons and a hook-and-eye at the waist.

Due to the delicate nature of the fabric, we have decided to not risk having this jumpsuit dry-cleaned. There are some marks near the hem and on the neck tie that a dry-cleaner would most likely be able to remove. There are 5 buttons at the waistband that are missing their tops (please see the last photo), but the bodice fabric drapes over the waist, hiding them during wear. It remains a truly spectacular piece.
